We are continuing to meet downstairs at the library on Thursdays. In the fall we were working mostly on baby quilts – designed to use up lots of the wonderful flannelette that had been donated to the guild.
It is not only Guild members that come and help.
Many of the pieces were small so we came up with a quilt as you go string quilt that used up many of those little pieces. We have successfully completed several and are just finishing up one more.
In the New Year our focus has turned to blocks for the Canadian Quilt Association Big Bee – in conjunction with celebrating Canada’ 150th birthday. We worked on these blocks on Thursdays at the library and then also had a great day at the Weyburn Comprehensive school library where we got many more blocks made and several tops put together.
The blocks for one of our quilts were mainly put together by members of Leah Fornwald’s high school Home Economics classes. I love the bright colours they chose.
We had a great day and got much accomplished. Thanks to everyone that came out that day as well as everyone that has helped towards the National goal of completing 1000 quilts for Ronald MacDonald Houses.
Lastly everyone is welcome to come out next Tuesday evening to our Gathering of the Guilds:
